This is mostly based on my experiences at Jubilee Community Church in Cape Town, South Africa.

I may be biased because I wrote some of it, and I’m definitely biased towards Free Software.

Currently this page focussed on needs that are fairly church-specific rather than on general office tools.

Software that helps in worship services:

• Asaph for editing words and chords of songs
• PyAsaph for projecting song words during worship

Other interesting software:

• http://blog.simon-cozens.org/songbee/bryar.cgi - SongBee is a Japanese worship projection project that uses HTML etc

Software that helps in recording sermons:

• Audacity is a nice simple cross-platform Audio recorder.
• CleanSpeech is a simplified version of Audacity target at sermon recording etc. Some nice features, doesn’t seem to be actively developed

I have a DESIGN for the components needed to make sermon recording and publishing a lot easier (including recording from audio tape)
